NJSBA Board of Directors Highlights

NJSBA’s Board of Directors met on Friday, Jan. 11, in the Robert Wood Johnson Conference Center, Mercerville.

The board took the following action: Administered the oath of office to Judy Farrell; Approved consent agenda items, including minutes of the Nov. 16 Board of Directors meeting, appointments for the 2008 Legislative Committee and Resolutions Subcommittee, and extension of time for approval of 2008 Legislative Agenda and Action Plan, with recommendation that Legislative Agenda and Action Plan be submitted at the March board meeting.

In addition, the board approved a construction bridge loan; received a report from the Construction Review Committee; heard outcomes from the three Board of Directors retreat action plan committees; presented certificates of appreciation to board members; and discussed the Long Range Strategic Plan update.

The board received the President’s report: President accepted plaque on behalf of board members at the January State Board of Education meeting; the Legislative Committee’s first meeting is scheduled for Jan. 26; Officers and Executive Director will attend NSBA’s annual Leadership/Federal Relations Network Conference Feb. 1-6.

The list of members to serve on the Ad Hoc Committee to study the Delegate Assembly was shared, and the board heard the Executive Director’s report on county financials and advocacy efforts on the School Funding Reform Act of 2008.
