About two dozen New Jersey school board members, NJSBA officers and staff traveled to Washington, D.C. for the annual Federal Relations Network (FRN) conference, a three-day advocacy and training program for board of education members.

Encourage Interest in School Boards
On Tuesday, NJSBA President Kevin E. Ciak sent the following message to newspaper editors throughout the state to encourage citizens to consider candidacy for their local board of education.

School districts and school boards may be thinking ahead to Earth Day 2008, the national celebration designed to foster an awareness of the earth’s environment.
DOE Awards $8.5 Million in Preschool Grants
The New Jersey Department of Education announced earlier this month it awarded grants totaling some $8.5 million to 14 preschool providers.
Training Focuses on School Safety
The New Jersey College and University Public Safety Association is sponsoring the third annual North East Corridor Conference to provide training for public safety personnel.
