Paid Family Leave Moves Through Legislature
The state Senate on Monday passed a paid family leave bill that would grant all workers up to six weeks to care for sick family members, a newborn or a newly adopted child.

Bill Would Expand Treatment of Substance Abuse, Alcoholism
A bill moving through both houses of the Legislature would require health insurance companies to cover treatment for alcoholism and substance abuse under the same terms and conditions as other diseases.

Legislation Addresses Emergency Diabetes Situations
The Assembly Education Committee discussed on Feb. 28 a proposal that authorizes trained school volunteers to administer glucagon and insulin to a diabetic student in an emergency.

Parents Could Decide Twins’ Placement
A bill introduced in the state Legislature would allow parents, not schools, to determine whether their twin children should be placed in the same classroom.
