Assembly Committee Releases Internet-Notice Bill

A bill that would allow the state, counties and municipalities to post certain notices online was recently released by an Assembly committee.

The bill, A-1105, was released from the Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee on Feb. 25. It would allow state agencies, counties and municipalities to comply with certain publication requirements by using the Internet instead of newspapers. The goal of the bill is to ensure widespread dissemination while saving money.

However, the bill would not affect government notices that are required to be sent to newspapers under the Open Public Meetings Act, and it would not affect school districts. NJSBA is in discussion with the bill’s sponsors about adding school districts to the legislation.
