NJSBA’s Legislative Committee: The Big Picture

NJSBA’s Legislative Committee met on Saturday to thank members for their years of service to the committee, and to discuss issues facing school districts as the state legislature comes back into session. Some of the major issues addressed by the committee included proposals to move the Annual School Election date, and the draft travel regulations recently issued by the New Jersey Department of Education. In coming months, the committee will rely on a grassroots strategy to reach out to state legislators. Board members who are interested in being a part of NJSBA’s Legislative Committee or the grassroots campaign can contact Ray Pinney, advocacy coordinator, at (888) 886-5722, ext. 5244, or by e-mail.

NJSBA officers also thanked three of the Legislative Committee members (pictured holding certificates) for their service to the committee. Pictured from left to right are Charles Albee, Evesham Township Board of Education; Kevin E. Ciak, NJSBA president; Eva M. Nagy, vice president for legislation/resolutions; Joseph Homoki, Monroe Township Board of Education; John Bulina, vice president for finance; Irene LeFebvre, Boonton Town school board; Harry J. Delgado, vice president for county activities; and Marie Bilik, NJSBA executive director.
