	Education Bills Pass Assembly Several education-related bills passed the Assembly on Monday, June 16.

	Lawmakers Closing in on Budget Deal New Jersey lawmakers and Gov. Jon Corzine are reportedly close to reaching an agreement on the state budget.

	Web Extra Legislators Seek $3.5 Billion for School Construction State legislators are proceeding with plans to borrow $3.5 billion for school construction, largely for urban schools, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

	Web Extra An Update from the National School Boards Association: Urge Your U.S. Representatives to Co-Sponsor H.R. 6239 Please urge your representatives to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 6239, a bill to freeze sanctions imposed on schools that fail to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) until Congress has fully reauthorized NCLB.

	NJSBA’s June 12 Legislative Day A cadre of NJSBA members and staffers met with NJ Assembly and Senate members over the course of the day on June 12 to press the case for public education.

	NJSBA Working on Long Range Plan NJSBA’s Officers, other Strategic Planning Committee members and staff members explored prospective goals and strategies for a Long Range Plan that will guide the Association through 2011 during a special meeting on Saturday at the N.J. Association of School Business Officials headquarters in Hamilton. Deadline Set for DA Resolutions The cutoff for submission of resolutions for the next NJSBA Delegate Assembly will be 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8.
