Legislators Approve State Budget 3.9 Billion in School Construction OK’d Lawmakers Grease Skids for Accountability Regs State Board and Twins Bills Pass Frank Weir, Former Officer School Board Notes on Summer Schedule NJSBA At Your Service Coming in School Leader Click here for a pdf version of this issue of School Board Notes	Legislators Approve State Budget Voting largely along party lines, the state Assembly and Senate on Monday passed the 2008-2009 Appropriations Act, authorizing a $32.86 billion budget—$600 million smaller than the current year state budget. 3.9 Billion in School Construction OK’d State lawmakers on Monday approved legislation to borrow $3.9 billion for school construction, primarily in urban schools.

	Lawmakers Grease Skids for Accountability Regs The Legislature on Monday paved the way for the commissioner of education to unilaterally implement most of the 205 pages of the draft accountability regulations—without public comment before, and approval by, the state Board of Education.

	State Board and Twins Bills Pass Besides passing the state budget, the Senate and Assembly on Monday approved other key education-related bills.

	Frank Weir, Former Officer Frank H. Weir, 73, a former NJSBA vice president, died June 21 in Plymouth, Minn.
