Conference Slated on School Funding Formula

A conference, “Understanding and Implementing the New Jersey School Funding Formula,” will be held Friday, Sept. 19 at Middlesex County Community College in Edison. The program will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The program, provided to both local educational and municipal leaders, will feature presentations by funding experts from the New Jersey Department of Education and the Department of Community Affairs, who will discuss the new school funding formula. Presenters will also review other legislative budgetary initiatives that have impacted communities, including the tax-levy cap law and the CORE property tax reform initiative.

The program is sponsored by the New Jersey League of Municipalities Education Foundation, in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Education. The League of Municipalities encourages local municipal and school officials to extend an invitation to each other and attend the conference together.

The cost is $35. For registration information, contact Suzanne Delany of the League of Municipalities at (609) 695-3481, ext. 111, or by e-mail. For more information, go to the "School Funding Law Updates" section on the New Jersey League of Municipalities Web site.
