NJSBA Invites Members To Connect Online

As new technology such as social media and mobile messaging transforms how people communicate, NJSBA has embraced new tools that its members can use to stay informed of important issues and communicate with other school board members statewide. On NJSBA’s Facebook fan page www.Facebook.com/njsba, board members will find up-to-the-minute posts about events and issues affecting education in New Jersey. Photos and videos, often posted live from training programs or county meetings, enable all NJSBA members to see what their organization is doing at any given time. Members can also comment on what they see, often leading to interesting dialogue with other school board members around the state. When NJSBA needs its members to assist in the legislative advocacy arena, it will use its “NJSBAlerts” system to reach members instantly on their mobile devices. Members can sign up at www.njsba.org/mobile. The NJSBA mobile/text messaging platform enables it to instantly send text messages to subscribers and enables the recipient to take action if necessary. Subscribers can simply press a key on their mobile device to voice an opinion on issues of concern to school boards around the state.
