Obituary: Mario J. Gangi, Former NJSBA President

Mario J. Gangi, a member of the Cresskill School Board for 29 years, and a former president of the New Jersey School Boards Association from 1990-1992, died on Jan. 2. He also was active in the Bergen County School Boards Association.

The president of Celwa Products of Elizabeth, Gangi was an active community volunteer. He was a member and past president of the Cresskill Borough Council, a member of the Cresskill Zoning Board, and served as the Cresskill Fire Marshall.

He is survived by his wife Caroline; children Caryn Hughes, Nicora Manwaring, Robyn and Christin; two brothers and a sister, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were set for Jan. 7. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorial donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
