Next Year's School Election Date Changes

A recent law that gives the education commissioner the authority to change the date of the Annual School Election is already being utilized. The school election date is to be held on the third Tuesday in April, but a law enacted in January allows the commissioner to change the date if it falls on a religious holiday.

The scheduled date of next year’s school election – Tuesday, April 19, 2011 – is the first day of Passover, so Commissioner Bret Schundler announced last week that he will change the date to Wednesday, April 27, 2011.
