Update: April 5 is Deadline for Wage Freeze Incentive – Web Extra

In a letter sent to the NJSBA and NJEA on Wednesday, Gov. Chris Christie urged school districts and local education associations to agree to a one-year salary freeze for employees by April 5, the deadline for submission of school budgets to county clerks.

Districts that can reach such an agreement by the deadline will receive additional state aid of about 7.65 percent of what would have been spent in salary increases. That sum represents the savings the state would realize from not paying the Social Security and Medicare payroll taxes due on the higher salary amounts.
