	Budget Watch: Consider Total Package – Not Just Salary Freeze Gov. Chris Christie’s recent comment on school budgets – that voters should reject the proposals if the local teachers union has not agreed to a wage freeze – caused consternation and concern in the education community.

	Web Extra Obituary: Debra Shanley, Dumont Board of Education A memorial service for Debra Shanley, a member of the Dumont Board of Education and a teacher in Bergenfield, will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 18 at the Frech Funeral Home at 161 Washington Ave. in Dumont. NJSBA Expresses Condolences on Death of Bob Franks Marie S. Bilik, NJSBA executive director, issued the following statement after this weekend’s announcement of the death of former New Jersey Congressman Robert Franks.

	NJSBA Delegate Assembly Handbook Mailing The deadline to pre-register for the May 15 NJSBA Delegate Assembly is April 21.

	Innovations in Special Education Judging Judging for the Innovations in Special Education awards, which recognizes creative and exemplary programs for special education students, took place on April 12.
