On Monday, an appeals court released its decision upholding Gov. Chris Christie’s Executive Order 14, which directed school districts to use surplus funds to make up for cuts in current-year (2009-2010) state aid.
Earlier this year, the governor froze $475 million in 2010 school aid payments. Those cuts were made to bridge a gap of more than $2 billion in the current year state budget.
The lawsuit was filed by the Perth Amboy school district, which lost some $15 million in state aid.
