New NCLB Policies on Highly Qualified Teachers
U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige announced this week three new policies that would give teachers greater flexibility in demonstrating that they are highly qualified under the No Child Left Behind Act. Deadline Approaches for Playground Safety Compliance

March 11 Legislative Action

Women’s History Month NJSBA supported AR103 (Weinberg, Vandervalk, Voss, Greenstein, Cruz-Perez), which designates March 2004 as Women’s History Month in New Jersey. The resolution passed the Assembly by a vote of 78-0 and was filed with the secretary of state.

March 15 Legislative Action

Teenage Drivers A1237 (Malone), a bill that would establish a Teenage Driver Safety Study Commission, passed the Assembly by a vote of 79-0. NJSBA supported the bill, which will go to the Senate for review

The staff of NJSBA’s Legal Department has written several publications that are essential resources for the day-to-day operations of school districts. Basic School Law is a twelve-chapter book in a binder format designed to give the reader a basic understanding of school laws.
