NJ Students Outperform Students Across Nation
|
New Jersey students scored higher on average than students across the nation in fourth- and eighth-grade math and reading tests, according to National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) results, released last week by the National Center for Educational Statistics.
Additionally, New Jersey students achieved the third-highest average scale score in fourth-grade reading (225) and fifth-highest scale score in fourth-grade math (239) in the nation, according to the NAEP results.
These test results show that we are headed in the right direction with our continued focus on early literacy, high standards, and high quality teaching, said Governor James McGreevey. While New Jerseys scores place us among the highest performing states in the nation, there is still more work to be done. We will not be satisfied until all of our children are proficient and we have closed the achievement gap. Get the full story.

| Emergency Resolution Admitted to Delegate Assembly Agenda |
School districts should make sure that their delegate is aware that the NJSBA Emergency Resolutions Subcommittee took action at a meeting held on November 17 at the NJSBA headquarters, via a telephone conference call, to admit an emergency resolution from the Executive Committee to the November 22 Delegate Assembly agenda. The recommended policy language will add new/replacement/additional policy related to school leadership and governance.
The emergency resolution was faxed/e-mailed on November 18 to pre-registered delegates or to the school business administrator if a district did not register a delegate before the mailing.
