| Supreme Court Upholds Punitive Damage Award Against School District |
| The New Jersey Supreme Court, in a recent 4-3 decision, held that, under the Conscientious Employer Protection Act (CEPA), punitive damages may be awarded against public entities, including school districts. In addition, the Court held that the CEPA one-year statute of limitations begins to run from the date of the final act of retaliation when there is a continued course of retaliatory conduct by the employer.
