Earning Academy Credits
Individual board members can earn Academy credits for each statewide program completed. These credits can be applied toward Academy certification programs. Every two and one-half to three hours of program training earns one Academy credit. One-day programs (five to six hours of training) will earn two credits. Weekend programs will earn anywhere from four to six credits, depending on program length. NJSBA will keep a permanent transcript of each members credits. Accreditation is available to board members and charter school trustees.
Programs conducted by county school boards associations earn 0.5 credits for every 75 to 80 minutes and one credit for every two and one-half to three hours of the educational portion of the program.
Programs conducted on a regional basis by a group of county school boards associations or by NJSBA will earn one credit for every two and one-half to three hours of educational programming.
Programs designed for joint board member/administrator training will earn each board member one individual credit for each two and one-half to three hours of training. If the number of board members required under the Board Certification criteria attends, then that board will also earn one credit per three hours of training towards its Board Certification. |
