Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offer unique opportunities for school districts, educators, and students within the K-12 educational realm and beyond. Over time, the range of CTE curricula has broadened from traditional building trades, fashion, and cosmetology to burgeoning programs in law, health professions, and even astronomy. These diverse programs require dedicated spaces within schools that offer real-world experiences within a safe educational environment. During this session, RSC Architects will focus on: • Defining CTE expectations as a project begins with a district - including preliminary programming, local partnerships, state guidelines, and facility constraints as they apply to both new and existing schools. • Incorporating best practices, emerging trends, and our expertise within secondary education, higher education, and workplace settings. • Balancing the investments that are needed for essential CTE project components, including educators, technology, and equipment. • Designing nimble, flexible spaces that can be utilized for multiple programs and academic instruction. • Maximizing the opportunities that are available for CTE-interested students. While this program focuses on architecture services for school buildings, it will also touch upon the following areas: career readiness; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; facilities, property management, and infrastructure; K-12 curriculum; school construction and renovation; STEM/STEAM; and sustainable schools.
