The Passaic City Board of Education is beginning the search for its next Superintendent of Schools. The Passaic Public School District educates approximately 13,600 Pre-K – grade 12 students in 17 schools and five annexes, including Passaic High School, Passaic Gifted and Talented Academy, and two secondary school academies. The school district oversees the education of students who live in a city of a little over three square miles with a population of 70,000 via a budget of $359 million.
The Board is seeking an experienced educational leader who is familiar with a large and close-knit district like Passaic; a leader who has high standards for student achievement, and who believes unequivocally that all students can learn and succeed. He or she will have deep knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy, and authentic, proven methodology for students to achieve the high expectations the Board has for its students. The district provides exemplary programming to its children and the new Superintendent will continue to build on this success.
The school district is the largest employer in the City of Passaic and needs an inspirational leader whom all staff, families, and students can believe in. The district employs 1,934 dedicated professionals, including a team of 76 administrators, and 1170 teachers. The successful candidate will become a well-known partner among all stakeholders, both within the district and outside of its buildings. The community is proudly diverse, with a large Spanish-speaking population.
The Passaic City Superintendent of Schools will work collaboratively with a very high-functioning, efficient Board of Education in a mutually supportive manner.
