The Launch Program is part of the Eastampton School District’s K-8 STEM program, known as Project Lead the Way.
The program’s name is based on the goal of “launching” the district’s youngest students, in grades K-5, onto the path of learning in Science Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
The Launch Program empowers children to solve real-world problems by designing, building and testing their own solutions in a hands-on, student-centered environment. Students are challenged to use critical thinking skills to follow the “engineering design process.”
At each grade level, students work in collaboration with classmates in a group setting, and focus on various topics aligned with the Common Core language arts and math standards, as well as the Next Generation Science Standards. Through this dynamic project-based learning, students – even those in the earliest grades – learn valuable skills that will help them prepare for the job market of the future.
