TRENTON, May 12, 2020—Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, New Jersey School Boards Association executive director, today congratulated Dr. Lamont Repollet, state commissioner of education, on his appointment as president of Kean University.
Repollet’s appointment was approved last night by the university’s board of trustees. He had been under consideration for the position for several months.
“Dr. Repollet has consistently demonstrated a concern about children and their education,” said Feinsod. “As commissioner of education, he has guided the conversation about public education toward the critical issues of equity and students’ emotional well-being.”
He continued, “Last year, at our annual conference, Dr. Repollet made a marked impression on our members when he addressed ‘Equity in Action’ and shared his personal experiences as a student and an educator. He was always willing to engage in dialogue with our members.”
“We congratulate Dr. Repollet on his new position at Kean University.”
Repollet was nominated to serve as commissioner of education by Governor Murphy shortly after his inauguration in January 2018. Previously, he was superintendent of the Asbury Park Public Schools, from 2014 to 2018, and principal of Carteret High School for nine years.
