Board members are reminded that the personal/relative and financial disclosure statements they are required to file annually are due April 30.

That due date applies to “returning” board members. Board members who have newly joined their board are required to file the statements within 30 days of taking office.

The disclosure statements are electronic forms filed with the School Ethics Commission. There are two parts to the electronic statements; the first, the Personal/Relative Disclosure Statement, discloses certain personal information, as well as information regarding the school official’s relatives who may be employed by local school districts. The second part, the Financial Disclosure, discloses certain financial statements, including sources of income for the board member.

Instructions for filing can be found online here; a frequently asked questions document can be found online here.  School board members should have received an email from the School Ethics Commission with a link to the electronic form and an authorization code; board members who have questions or difficulty with the process should contact their board secretary.
