A panel of judges recently met to review nominations for the Innovations in Special Education awards, which honor exemplary programs for students with special needs. The selected programs will be honored at an event held in conjunction with 2019’s Special Education Week in New Jersey, which is May 12-18.  Judges included, left to right, Mary Ann Friedman, NJSBA field service representative; Elain Lerner, former coordinator in the New Jersey Department of Education’s (NJDOE) Office of Special Education Programs;  Alexis Ziegler, NJDOE Office of Special Education; and Irene LeFabvre, Boonton Town board member, chair of NJSBA’s Special Education Committee and member, NJSBA Board of Directors.
