The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has announced a new, three-year pilot program to engage 10 school districts in using selected grade levels of soon-to-be released NJDOE instructional units in English language arts and/or math within the Connected Action Roadmap (CAR) process.   The units are expected to be released next week.

The pilot is intended to build the capacity of educators in New Jersey schools to work effectively in professional learning communities using the new instructional units. It is being offered and funded through a partnership with the NJDOE, the Overdeck Family Foundation and the Foundation for Educational Administration.  Participating districts will be provided with training and coaching support to implement the program.

The CAR process is a strategic and collaborative approach that connects standards-based curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional learning in a school culture that promotes an ongoing process of reflection on and growth in student learning.
