The final report of the Federal Commission on School Safety was released on Dec. 18, 2018. In a transmittal letter to President Trump, administration officials noted that they began their work after the shootings at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. on Feb. 14, 2018.

The transmittal letter was signed by Betsy DeVos, secretary of the U.S. Department of Education; Kirstjen Nielsen, secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Alex Azar II, secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Matthew Whitaker, acting Attorney General for the U.S. Department of Justice.
