The NJSBA and Arts Ed NJ will come together on March 14 for the next “Are You I-STEAM Ready?” workshop hosted by, and held at, the Perkins Center for Arts in Collingswood. I-STEAM stands for integrated science, technology, engineering, the arts and math. The session runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (registration and continental breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m.)

The March 14 workshop will feature I-STEAM design challenges and training on how to plan for and implement the design system in your school. Learn to inspire students through creativity and discover how to deepen student learning through the creative process. Board members who attend will explore how the board of education can support I-STEAM and design challenges in their districts.  Subject matter experts from NJSBA, Arts Ed NJ, the U.S. Army, Perkins Center for the Arts and others will participate in the workshop to provide information and guidance throughout the day.

Registration is available online. The session offers 4 Board Member Academy credits and 4 I-STEAM Leader credits. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

On March 21, the NJSBA and the Morris Plains School District will come together for the next “Are You I-STEAM Ready?” workshop hosted by, and held at, Borough School in Morris Plains. This workshop will feature a day of I-STEAM learning experiences and training on how to plan for and implement an I-STEAM learning environment. Learn about the process that the Morris Plains school district went through to transform traditional STEM learning into inspirational and creative I-STEAM learning spaces designed to deepen student understanding.

Workshop participants will walk away with an understanding of I-STEAM design challenge elements; the planning and implementation of a STEAM Lab including space and materials, and curriculum and staffing. This workshop will be hands-on and interactive, giving participants a feeling for what it would be like as a student learner in a STEAM Lab environment. Board members who attend will learn how the board of education can support I-STEAM learning experiences and environments in their districts.

Registration is available online. The session offers 4 Board Member Academy credits and 4 I-STEAM Leader credits. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Both programs are free to members and school district staff and are sponsored by the Educational Leadership Foundation of New Jersey.
