Join the New Jersey School Boards Association for a comprehensive conference covering multiple areas of social-emotional learning (SEL). The program, which offers three Board Member Academy credits, will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Conference Center at Mercer, 1200 Old Trenton Rd., West Windsor, N.J.

Registration and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Sessions will feature practical, real-world initiatives to successfully enhance and transform the character of school districts.

Presenters will include:

  • Representatives of Arts Ed NJ, who will discuss creating a crosswalk of New Jersey’s visual and performing arts standards and SEL competencies, and
  • Ann Murphy, Ph.D., CPRP, co-director of the Northeast & Caribbean Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) Network, which is committed to facilitating the implementation of evidence-based practices in mental health.

Learn how your district can implement social-emotional learning best practices, and connect its various aspects to deepen knowledge and ensure equitable outcomes for all students.

Keynote Speaker, Ian Hockley, Executive Director, Dylan’s Wings of Change

Dylan’s Wings of Change is a foundation dedicated to the memory of Ian Hockley’s son, Dylan, who was killed in the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The mission of Dylan’s Wings of Change is to empower empathetic and courageous children to create strong, inclusive communities. The foundation created Wingman, a youth leadership program that develops social and emotional skills through engaging experiential activities and inspires children to go above and beyond for others. Ian will discuss the importance of social-emotional learning to enhance the experience for all students.

School district teams are encouraged to join other educational leaders for discussions, examples, and lessons learned.

Registration: The member rate for this event is $99 per person. Registration of school board members and administrators may be completed online, but only by the school business administrator who must attach a scanned copy of the purchase order with the registration.

Additional non-member district staff members are welcome to register online through Eventbrite using a credit card. (Please check with your business administrator about the district’s policy regarding reimbursement.)
