The Future Ready Schools – New Jersey (FRS-NJ) Certification Program, a partnership of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), and the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA), is looking for volunteers to join one or more of three task forces to support the program. The three task forces focus on Education and Classroom Practice, Technology Support and Services, and Leadership, each based upon the ‘gears’ developed by the national Future Ready Schools initiative.
Please review the descriptions of the task forces, their alignment with the corresponding National Future Ready Framework gears, and the mission of each task force.
A major component of the FRS-NJ mission is to ensure that the expertise, experience, and resources from a wide variety of individuals have a stake in creating Future Ready students, by helping in the development of the certification program. The task forces will help to identify actions that schools in New Jersey can take to prepare their students for success in a digital age; the resources needed for schools to achieve Future Ready actions; and metrics and evidence to help verify that schools are successfully implementing these actions. School leaders are encouraged to join a task force online. The inaugural meetings for the Education and Classroom Practice task force and the Technology and Support Services task force, originally slated for Feb. 10 have been postponed due to PARCC Training. A new date will be announced soon. Sign up online to indicate interest in participating in a task force and to receive updates on the dates and locations for the task force meetings.
The Leadership Task Force meeting will take place on February 17 at NJSBA headquarters in Trenton, from 10 a.m. – noon. Sign up online to participate in the Leadership task force.
