As a board member, do you want to help set New Jersey School Boards Association policy? If so, then become familiar with the NJSBA Delegate Assembly. At the Delegate Assembly, or DA, school district representatives vote on resolutions proposing policy positions submitted by local boards, county school boards associations, the NJSBA Board of Directors, and standing committees.
Policy adopted by the DA is included in NJSBA’s Manual of Positions and Policies on Education. That policy determines what NJSBA will advocate for, or oppose, in Trenton, Washington, D.C., and the courts.
To view a video about the DA and how it works, and to learn more about NJSBA’s major policy-setting event, visit the Delegate Assembly page on NJSBA’s website.
All board-adopted resolutions submitted for the May 18, 2019 Annual Delegate Assembly must be received at NJSBA headquarters by 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Notice regarding the cutoff date was e-mailed to school business administrators, county association presidents, board presidents and board delegates on January 18, 2019. It included the rules for appearing before the Resolutions Subcommittee, which will meet on Saturday, April 13, 2019 to consider the resolutions submitted for the May Annual Delegate Assembly agenda.
Resolutions should be e-mailed to CynthiaHarrison or faxed to the attention of Cynthia Harrison at 609-695-1577. For more information, contact Cynthia Harrison via email or call toll free at (888) 886-5722, ext. 5254.
