New Jersey Education Commissioner Lamont Repollet officially stepped down from his position on July 1. He will serve in an advisory capacity at the state Department of Education for two weeks while transitioning to his new position as president of Kean University.

Gov. Phil Murphy announced that Kevin Dehmer, assistant commissioner for finance, will serve as interim commissioner while the search for a permanent successor to Repollet continues.

“We thank former Commissioner Repollet for his unwavering dedication to New Jersey’s public school students,” said NJSBA Executive Director Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod. “Dr. Repollet has always been collaborative and communicative with our state’s education community. We wish him the best of luck as he assumes the presidency of Kean University.”
