NJSBA is hosting a series of Facebook Live events to address questions from school boards, school administrators, and educators during the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit the NJSBA Facebook page to tune in.

I-STEAM and Sustainability Lessons with John Henry, Wednesday, June 17 at 10 a.m.

The next Facebook Live will dig up some dirt on backyard gardens and sustainable agriculture with NJSBA’s I-STEAM and Sustainable Schools Specialist John Henry; Energime University, a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainable training and education; and a representative from Stockton University. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important for everyone to feel secure, especially when it comes to food supply and the health benefits of a vegetable garden and a healthy diet. This event will focus on how families can create their own backyard food gardens. Hear how to use household objects as planters, decide what plants to grow and where to plant them, discover the specific health benefits of different plants and more.

Educator Wellness: the Impact of Stress, Thursday, June 18, at 1 p.m.

Join Michael Kvidahl, NJSBA digital marketing specialist, and Chi Kim, chief executive officer of Pure Edge, Inc., which offers programs to develop social, emotional and academic skills through mindful movement, breath and rest, as they discuss the need to prioritize caring for educators as districts plan for school in the fall. They will talk about the impact of stress and our collective ability to become more resilient.
