The New Jersey School Boards Association is excited to announce that the heart of Workshop—the training, collaboration, resources, and networking—is coming to a virtual conference, taking place from Oct. 20 through Oct. 22.
NJSBA’s Virtual Workshop 2020 will feature three days of sessions running concurrently over multiple tracks, compelling keynote presentations, special events, and a live exhibit hall. More information will be available in the coming weeks.
“The annual Workshop Conference is a premier professional development event for all of New Jersey’s educational community. This year will be no different,” said Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA’s executive director. “The NJSBA will provide a premier distance learning experience, showcasing best practices for engaged online learning.”
Please consider submitting a session topic for the event. Submissions made via the Workshop 2020 program proposal form will not be accepted. The NJSBA is requiring new submissions to follow the new virtual presentation guidelines, outlined below.
Given the extreme impact COVID-19 has had on education in New Jersey, several categories have been added to address successes and obstacles in relation to the current health crisis. Be a storyteller and share lessons learned, challenges overcome, and the successful best practices districts have adopted.
This year’s change to an online venue will require innovation and a shift in style and method of presentation. All sessions will be held on our online conference platform which will allow presenters to upload materials, chat with session attendees, and host an unlimited number of attendees in each session. All sessions will be recorded and accessible to conference registrants via the conference platform after the show.
To ensure that the style and format work for a virtual audience, it is vital to “see” presenters in action as part of the evaluation for acceptance. Please provide a two- to five- minute video presenting a summary of program content. This video can be uploaded to Vimeo, YouTube, or any online video hosting site, with the URL shared on the completed Program Proposal Form.
Please note the following guidelines when shaping your proposal:
- Each session requires an individual proposal submission.
- All presenters must be listed. The number of presenters listed cannot exceed three.
- Presenter title format on the agenda will be Full Name, Title, Organization.
- Include a two- to five-minute video of your presentation.
All program submissions will receive equal consideration. The deadline for receiving completed forms is Friday, July 17, 2020, by 5 P.M. Those submitting proposals will be notified of the Association’s decision via email by late July.
NJSBA will assist approved program presenters over the upcoming months to ensure programs are prepared for the “virtual world,” and the Association will help you get comfortable with the virtual conference platform.
