NJSBA is hosting a series of Facebook Live events to address questions from boards of education, school administrators, and educators during the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit the NJSBA Facebook page to tune in.
This week’s programs include:
I-STEAM and Sustainability Lessons with John Henry, Wednesday, June 10 at 10 a.m. Join us for the next Facebook Live event with John Henry, NJSBA’s I-STEAM and sustainable schools specialist, and the Rutgers Center for Mathematics, Science, and Computer Education. The event will kick off a series of summer design challenges and problem-solving activities that students and families can do at home. We will discuss the importance of making your home a learning lab by creating an environment that promotes hands-on, project-based learning design challenges. The challenges introduced will have a summer theme that could be fun for the entire family; and participating teachers may get fresh ideas for stimulating STEM/STEAM activities. Following this event, new challenges will be introduced throughout the summer for which we encourage the participation of parents so that they can learn design-based, thinking fundamentals, and help facilitate projects with their students.
Legislative Update, Thursday, June 11 at 10 a.m. Jonathan Pushman, an NJSBA legislative advocate, will discuss advocacy in the age of COVID-19 and will provide an update from Trenton. Join us on NJSBA’s Facebook page.
