Valuable training in school board governance, student achievement, school law, school policy development and more was provided to approximately 100 new board members recently, at the NJSBA New Board Member Orientation. Board members who attended the Friday-Sunday session, held at the Princeton Marriott in Plainsboro, also had the opportunity for valuable networking with other new board members and NJSBA staff.

All costs, including all meals, materials and hotel stay, are underwritten by a grant from the Educational Leadership Foundation of New Jersey (ELFNJ). The February program was sponsored by ETS.

  • NJSBA President Dan Sinclair, (standing), a member of the Lakeland Regional school board, led a small group session on goal setting. The small groups, each moderated by a veteran board member, allow board members to get hands-on training with experienced leaders and are a key part of the program.
