High school graduations mark a milestone for students, their families, and for the whole school community. But New Jersey’s 2020 high school graduates will have to celebrate their achievements differently this year.
On Friday, May 8, the New Jersey Department of Education released a memo which clarifies that Gov. Phil Murphy’s Executive Order 107, which prohibits gatherings of individuals for celebrations applies to in-person graduation ceremonies. “Since the Executive Orders will remain in effect until further notice, only virtual graduation ceremonies can be planned at this time,” the memo notes.
