On Thursday, June 3, the New Jersey School Boards Association will present its annual School Public Relations Forum, virtually, from 9 a.m. to noon. The session offers two Board Member Academy credits.

The theme is Getting Your Community Ready for September, and the program will feature interactive sessions focused on communicating with the community.

Using Social Media to Build Goodwill, one of the sessions, will feature ways to get ahead of the community chatter and quell the rumor mill by being proactive, taking control of the school district’s messaging, and ultimately building trust with stakeholders. The session will address the use of multiple social media platforms to build a school district’s brand, tout upcoming events, supply video performance links, broadcast live from an assembly, and alert the community during emergencies.

Additional sessions will cover best practices in public speaking – including video presentations, and a panel discussion on preparing parents to go back to school.

Registration The member rate for this program is $50 per person. The school business administrator must handle registration.
