Last month, the NJSBA released a task force report called, “Building a Foundation for Hope,” which contained more than 70 recommendations for action by local districts to help improve and sustain the mental health of students and staff.
To continue progress on this critical issue, NJSBA President Mike McClure and Executive Director Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod agreed that an ad hoc committee on health and wellness should be created. It will be chaired by Amy Hassa, a member of the Hamilton Township school board in Atlantic County. Hassa is a social worker who teaches courses on mental health and serves as a consultant to businesses and education organizations.
Those interested in serving on the ad hoc committee should email the NJSBA’s Cindy Harrison.
