The New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) is offering two webinars this month on cybersecurity. Viewers may watch webinars live to interact and ask questions, or watch archived broadcasts at any time.

Cybersecurity Shared Services to Defend Against Ransomware and Other Threats, Tuesday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m to 11 a.m.

Ransomware attacks have been a threat for more than a decade, and they continue to increase in volume and level of sophistication. This webinar will highlight what districts should know about defending against these threats and steps to reduce the level of risk at the district.

Participants will also learn about the shared services approach that NJSBA and Edge have put in place to bring affordable cybersecurity resources to New Jersey schools. Find out how our collaborative Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) program can enable districts to enlist true, executive-level cybersecurity talent to help plan a defense against threats like ransomware and evolve the district’s security posture to provide proactive protection.

Akamai: Security at the Edge, Thursday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

BYOD is now a staple in K-12 Education. Access from any device, anywhere for students, faculty, and the administration is commonplace.

As many schools make the transition to Chrome-based operating systems from traditional iOS, K-12 districts are now moving more dedicated resources to the cloud or are inadequately protected by aging on premise infrastructure.

School IT administrators are having to dedicate precious resources to patching, deploying legacy firewalls, supplementing email security solutions, having to encrypt data storage backup systems and consuming AI-driven endpoint solutions.

Many of these deployed tools lack the proper maintenance after deployment due to further resource restrictions.

During this webinar, Akamai subject matter experts will explore ways in which their solution set can assist in schools with items such as SSL decryption, advanced threat notification and awareness, guest WiFi permission enablement and web gateway protection.
