Virtual Workshop 2020 will host a panel discussion addressing communications challenges during the health emergency on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m.
The session – “Education During the Pandemic: Communications Challenges Facing School Districts” – will explore challenges that range from assuring parents, students and staff about the effectiveness of health and safety protocols, to pivoting to all-virtual instruction when students or staff test positive, to combatting rumors on social media. Also addressed will be the roles of board members and administrators in communicating during the pandemic.
Panelists will include:
- Mary Ann Bell, superintendent, Burlington Township Public Schools;
- Bethany Summers, president, Warren Co. School Boards Association and North Warren Regional Board of Education;
- Lori Perlow, president, N.J. School Public Relations Association, and communications manager, Camden County Educational Services Commission; and
- Mary Ann McGann, school-community relations coordinator, Westfield Public Schools.
A question-and-answer session will conclude the program.
