Co-sponsored by the NJSBA and the Garden State Coalition of Schools, Virtual Workshop 2020 will continue offering one of the event’s most popular sessions – a legislative panel discussion. This session draws prominent members of the Senate and Assembly to discuss timely issues of importance to school districts.
The discussion will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Legislators scheduled to participate this year include:
- Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-3)
- Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-19)
- Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick (R-20)
- Senator Steven Oroho (R-24)
This session presents a valuable opportunity for board members to hear the latest news from the State House. Following introductions, the NJSBA’s director of governmental relations will moderate the question and answer portion of the session.
Among the topics likely to be addressed include the state budget, school funding, education in the age of COVID-19, the new health benefits reform law and other recent enactments, and what to expect from the Legislature in the months ahead.
