The NJSBA announces a “call for entries” for students interested in submitting films for the Garden State Film Festival’s student submission category, “New Jersey Hometown Documentary Short.”
This category is reserved for films that are written, directed and shot by New Jersey high school and younger grade school students. Films must be five minutes or less and must focus on some aspect of the students’ hometown, including topics such as profiles of interesting persons, places, time periods or subjects related to the arts.
This relatively new film submission category was created to encourage young filmmakers’ creativity while instilling a sense of pride in students’ hometowns and state.
Students are encouraged to submit entries either on their own or through their schools by Jan. 8, 2021 for the 2021 Garden State Film Festival.
The top submissions will be eligible to screen at the Artists Alike Film Festival in February 2021 in Washington Township, Gloucester County, and The Garden State Film Festival scheduled for March 24 through March 28, 2021 in Asbury Park.
Be sure to tune in to NJSBA’s film showcase, a selection of curated films, from the top student films at NJSBA’s Virtual Workshop 2020. The screenings will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 20. For more information, please visit GSFF.org.
