More than 60 members of NJSBA’s Legislative Committee met virtually on Saturday, Sept. 12. Members heard remarks from Mike McClure, NJSBA president; Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA executive director; and Dr. Karen Cortellino, NJSBA’s vice president for legislation/resolutions. They also heard state and federal legislative updates from the Association’s governmental relations staff, including Jonathan Pushman, NJSBA’s new director of governmental relations. The committee also engaged in discussion on topics including essentials for remote learning, and proposed cuts to the school-based youth services program. In the photo here, John Burns, NJSBA counsel, provides an overview of recent State Board of Education actions.
