Students should know about the importance of the upcoming election, the challenges they may face if they vote by mail, and the sacrifices that have been made to protect the cherished right to vote.

In support of those principles, the League of Women Voters, in cooperation with the leading education organizations in New Jersey, including the NJSBA, will offer a one-hour, Sept. 29 webinar on how to motivate students to participate in the Nov. 3 election. Additional details and registration information are available here.

“The NJSBA encourages every school district to participate in this program, which builds students’ knowledge of the election process and stresses importance of voting as a civic responsibility,” said Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, executive director of the NJSBA. “A healthy democracy requires an informed, active electorate.”

The program is endorsed by the LEE Group and the and the Garden State Coalition of Schools. “LEE” stands for “leadership for excellence in education.” The organization includes representatives from the  NJSBA; the New Jersey Association of School Administrators; the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials; the New Jersey Education Association; the New Jersey State Parent-Teachers Association; and the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association.
