This week’s virtual training from NJSBA Facebook Live events will include programs on ISTEAM at home and topical discussions.
Facebook Live Event: NJSBA I-Steam and Sustainable Lessons, Featuring John Henry, I-STEAM and Sustainability Specialist Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. John Henry, will be joined by Jason Erdreich, a technology, engineering, and design educator and a former member of the N.J. Technology Engineering Educators Association (NJTEEA). Jason will define the importance of technology education in schools.
John and Jason will discuss the benefits of students learning how to use technology, and how experiential learning can increase a student’s ability to retain and apply knowledge. In addition, they will discuss how the engineering design process can help students learn to solve real-world problems through teacher-designed scenarios in the makerspace classroom, and through collaborative activities that can be completed at home.
Facebook Live Event: Special Topics – Equity in the Virtual Classroom Thursday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. Join us for a conversation about the equity challenges districts are facing as they move further into the new school year. NJSBA’s Educator in Residence Vincent DeLucia will discuss hidden biases, social-emotional learning and the role that schools play in social justice. There will also be discussion on the positive impact of collaboration, and the challenges of homeschooling children with special needs.
