The New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) recognizes the significance of having everyone at the table. As a result, the annual NJSBA Workshop conference has evolved to provide superior value to entire district teams, not just school board members and administrators.
It is so important for district teams to work together toward common goals to ensure successful outcomes. Workshop 2019 truly has something for everyone. Keep reading for reasons on why it is important to send your entire district team to Workshop 2019.
Bring Innovation Back to Your District
Workshop is packed with best practices and innovative programs from across the state. Is your district participating in the Future Ready Schools — NJ certification program? Would you like to see your school compete in the STEAM Tank competition? Have you been considering bringing mindfulness into your district? Do you want to learn more about best practices in social-emotional learning? Having all of your team members at Workshop will help to better inform the decision-making process to move new ideas forward.
Divide and Conquer
Workshop Training Sessions Workshop 2019 will offer 250 training and information sessions. Sessions feature information on on advancing student achievement through innovative curriculum, including integrative STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math) education programs, equity and access, social and emotional learning, training on technology, including sessions on becoming “Future Ready” and cybersecurity, training on school finance and shared services, programs on leadership, governance, labor relations, school law, policy development, school security, sustainability, and more. Professional development credit is also available.
Bonus: Professional Development Credit
Workshop sessions offer NJSBA Board Member Academy credits toward board member certifications, Qualified Purchasing Agent (QPA) Credits for School Business Administrators, professional development credits for Certified Educational Facilities Managers (CEFM) and sustainability credits toward Sustainable Jersey for Schools Certification. Split up to attend as many sessions as possible, and to gather ideas to bring back to your district for further exploration.
Team Building
Attending Workshop is a great way for the district team to gather away from the school or board table to work together in a stimulating, but casual environment. Workshop is an excellent time to build rapport, share ideas, and pass the knowledge back and forth on what everyone is learning during the sessions.
Meet with Vendors
Is your district looking for solutions to help drive student achievement, cost-effective solutions to improve school technology, ways to become more efficient, more effective, or more sustainable? Workshop 2019 will present opportunities to meet with hundreds of vendors. Meeting with vendors face to face is an excellent way to see products and services you may be considering for your district through hands-on demonstrations and by asking in-depth questions. And, because there are so many vendors, bringing your team helps to explore resources that may otherwise be missed.
Sending Your Team Reduces District Costs
To help extend training to as many members of your district team as possible, NJSBA offers a special group registration rate of $1,700 which covers 20 team members. Districts may include the school board, business administrator, superintendent, facilities managers, curriculum professionals, IT staff, principals, human resource professionals, and other district staff in their group registration. Team members may stay for one day or all four days. The individual member rate is $375 per person.
We hope to see your entire district team at Workshop 2019. To learn more about Workshop and for even more reasons to attend, visit the website.
