Bruce R. Young

Bruce Young was re-elected to a second two-year term as vice president for county activities of the New Jersey School Boards Association during the organization’s semi-annual Delegate Assembly on May 15, 2021.

Young served on the Carlstadt Board of Education from 1990 to 2008, and again from 2012 to 2018. He was elected president four times and he was a member of various committees including finance, negotiations, shared services, building and grounds, and policy.

He also served on the Carlstadt-East Rutherford Regional Board of Education from 2002 to 2008, and again in 2018.  Elected president for two terms, he chaired the finance, negotiation, policy, and building and grounds committees. He was a key player in the acquisition of funding through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Port Authority for the soundproofing of Becton Regional High School. Young also served as president for the Bergen County School Boards Association and vice president of legislation.

Young was named School Board Member of the Year for 2017-2018.

Young graduated from East Rutherford High School and currently serves as deputy zoning official.
