Michael R. McClure was elected to a two-year term as President of the New Jersey School Boards Association during the organization’s Delegate Assembly on May 18, 2019.
The Burlington County resident will serve in the volunteer position for two years. He is the president of the Maple Shade Board of Education.
In his acceptance speech, McClure told the delegates he would continue NJSBA’s progress in serving local boards of education, the Association’s sound financial practices, and its superior board member training. As president, he said he will guide the association’s executive team in advocating for state support for school boards across New Jersey.
McClure served as NJSBA’s vice president for finance for four years (2015-2019). He has been a member of the Maple Shade school board for 19 years, including service as its president for four years and vice president for four years. He has been a member of the NJSBA Board of Directors for eight years, and was an alternate representative to the board for two years. He earned the designations of Certified Board Member, Master Board Member and Certified Board Leader through the NJSBA Board Member Academy.
McClure served as president and vice president of the Burlington County School Boards Association, and has served on numerous committees and task forces. He is also a trustee of the Education Leadership Foundation of New Jersey, a non-profit organization founded by NJSBA to advance the governance of New Jersey’s public schools through training and research.
He has served as president of his community’s recreation board for more than 15 years, and helped start, and operate, a youth wrestling program in Maple Shade.
McClure works in corporate fleet management and oversees more than 4,500 commercial vehicles in 47 locations. He attended college for business management.
