The Oxford Board of Education is actively searching for a new Superintendent / Principal with a demonstrated record of success in inspiring, challenging, and nurturing students, and developing them into individuals eager to make positive contributions to society.
Oxford Township is located in rural western New Jersey at the foot of Oxford Mountain in the Skylands Region and along the Oxford Furnace Creek. Our school district offers full-day Pre-School, full day Kindergarten, and a full range of courses and school activities. Oxford Central School is a NJ School of Character, a National School of Character (the only National School of Character in Warren County) and our programs have been featured on NJ Classroom Close-up three times in the past 15 years!
The school’s MARE program, in conjunction with Rutgers University, allows students to study the world’s oceans and waterways. The school participates in the National Archery in the Schools Program and has been featured in numerous national magazines, local newspapers, the “Fox and Friends Show” and been NJ State Champs 15 years in a row. Other activities involve many field trips, and an 8th grade trip to Washington, DC.
Our state assessment scores are commensurate with the state averages. Our district is wireless, has a 1:1 Chromebook program for grades 3-8 and classroom devices for each student in Kindergarten through second grade. We offer the latest curriculum in KG-8 and online use of Google Suite programs in grades 3-8. We have a brand new STEM/Makerspace lab and we have an active PTA
OCS was recently awarded a Preschool Expansion Grant from the NJDOE.
We are a one-building school district with an enrollment of 250 students and 62 staff members. We support our educational programming by means of an $11m budget. Oxford Central School boasts a supportive community and Board of Education. OCS is the heart of our community.
- NJ School Administrator Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility is required
- Three or more years school administrator experience is required
- Ten (10) years successful classroom teaching experience strongly preferred
- Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of NJ education law is desired
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise especially in the areas of curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; finance, including resource management, budget development, and alternative funding; operations and Facilities management; and Special Education.
