Title IX is a federal law that makes it illegal to discriminate against a person on the basis of sex in any federally funded activity. Last month, the United States Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, proposed regulatory changes to the way in which Title IX is implemented. While somewhat controversial, the regulations seek to standardize Title IX rules and ensure consistent implementation nationwide.
